A selection of drawings from Brits’ sketchbooks.
2016—present.
“Drawing is my first love. When I draw, that which I am stands outside of time. The art studio shrinks down to the size of a fresh white page, and —in spite of the inherent difficulty of the task— the tide of the world recedes. It’s just my hand, my eye, and the subject I am drawing. As much as the goal is to approximate the likeness of the subject, for me it is primarily about process. It’s about who I get to experience myself as as the line unfolds on the field of the page, and seeing the world anew.”
